Our main reason to go to Hong Kong, was a bit embarrassingly, our desire to go to Disneyland. We longed for the Christmas season, and festivities, and carols and decorations, which were non-existent in our Muslim Brunei. And who does is better than Disney? So we planned the trip specifically around a visit to the park. Hong Kong the city has it’s charms, it is a lot like Singapore. The December we went, it was deliciously cold, for a real Christmas experience, and of course the decorations and festive air did not disappoint. We actually made the trip twice, in differnet Christmas seasons. Highlights: #1 - Disneyland and Hotel #2 - Nutcracker with Hong Kong Ballet #3 - Hong Kong Mountain overlook #1 - Disneyland and Hotel - Hong Kong Disneyland is a little smaller than most of the other parks, but for our family of 6 kids, it was the perfect size. In two days, we were able to see and do everything we wanted to do, with out rushing, and without getting bored from repeated rides. We stayed on the park in the Disneyland Hotel, which despite the cost, proved to be delightful. Breakfast with the Disney characters was more genuinely fun than I expected, and the short walk to the park, along the beautifully decorated pathway was convenient and enjoyable. #2 - Nutcracker with Hong Kong Ballet - The first year we visited, we happened to overlap with the production of the Nutcracker. We took the whole family, and had a thoroughly enjoyable viewing experience. With full ballet and full professional orchestra, the show was everything you would want in a Christmas season Nutcracker performance. #3 - Hong Kong Mountain overlook - one thing we did do in the city was take the funicular train up the mountain side to the overlook. The wind was rushly and took your breath away as we looked over the edge at the city. The view was beautiful.
