Mom, Emily, Anna and Grandma continued to Hungary from Vienna on their road trip, and stopped off in Budapest for a few days. We walked around the city and saw the beautiful buildings, stayed mostly on the east side of the Danube and took a river cruise. Highlights: #1: Parliament Building - One of Budapest’s most iconic photo opportunities is of the beautiful Parliament Building overlooking the river. On the landward side, it faces two other beautiful buildings that apparently had a competition to see whose would become the House of Parliament. Comparing the three, they are each beautiful in their own ways, but it’s obvious which won, and for good reason. #2: The city itself - We walked around the East side of the city one Sunday, and it is a beautiful city. There were parks to walk around, trees to climb and beautiful sights to see. #3: River cruise - We took a dinner cruise along the Danube, met some interesting people, took pictures and enjoyed a delicious meal. All of the beauty and serenity made it definitely one of my favourite cities I have ever been to. To do next time: #4: Ruins along the river - From the cruise, we saw some small ruins near the river, and hadn’t seen anything like that on anything like TripAdvisor. So we asked some people we’d met who had that on their itinerary, and they said that they were amazing ruins that got little tourist attention. Goal for next time.
